StudyMate Class: 5 Major Enhancements

One of the fun things about StudyMate Class is that it’s centrally hosted, so users get access to new features and integrations without having to update their own server. We’ve been busy the last few months, so we’d like to share five important enhancements that were made to StudyMate Class.

1) ANGEL Integration
StudyMate Class now offers seamless integration with ANGEL 7.3 and 7.4. The ANGEL administrator simply needs to install the StudyMate Class “learning object” to the ANGEL server. Once installed, instructors can create StudyMate Class projects in an ANGEL course, monitor student participation, and have scores passed directly to ANGEL’s gradebook.  This new integration for ANGEL means that StudyMate Class supports all learning platforms offered by Blackboard Inc., including Learn, Vista and CE.

2) Moodle Integration
Moodlers can also take advantage of seamless integration with StudyMate Class. The Moodle administrator will need to install the “StudyMate Class Moodle Module,” which is compatible with all Moodle 1.9x servers. Once installed, StudyMate Class works like a native tool in Moodle, with single sign-on, gradebook integration, and tie-ins with the quizzing tool.

3) Mobile Learning
StudyMate Class now supports the leading mobile devices, including the iPhone, iPod touch, Android, BlackBerry, Palm Pre, and others.  This means students can access the learning activities, self-assessments and games in StudyMate Class at anytime and anywhere. Students simply login to the learning management system from their mobile device and select a StudyMate Class project. StudyMate Class recognizes the specific type of mobile browser and serves up custom pages for that device.

4) MyStudyMate
StudyMate Class now offers a new project type called MyStudyMate. When an instructor creates a MyStudyMate project, items entered by students cannot be viewed by other students in the class. It’s similar to a “journal” concept where students enter information that can only be seen by themselves and the instructor. MyStudyMate is ideal for situations where the instructor wants students to work on their own.

5) Edit Activity
Have you been in the middle of a StudyMate Class activity like “Flash Cards” or “Challenge” and noticed a mistake with the question itself? Now you can jump directly to the editing template for that item by clicking the “Edit” link in the upper right corner. Make the fix and you’re ready to go again. A real time-saver!
